The lineage of all dilutes has been traced back to two Kellogg's dogs (a kennel with Labradors and Weimaraners) by Mayo Kellogg who "invented" the "pointing Labrador".  Please click here to read documentation.

LELRC fully supports our AKC parent club, The Labrador Retriever Club (LRC), in their stand against the dilution of our breed (aka silvers, charcoals, and champagnes).  Please click here to see Dr. Fran Smith's article.

LELRC fully supports the LRC's stand against the showing of dilutes in the conformation ring since conformation means conforming to a standard which our breed standard specifically states that the only permissible colors are black, yellow, and chocolate.  The conformation ring is for breeding animals for which no dogs with the dilution gene (either a carrier or affected) should be breed.  Recently, the LRC wrote a letter to the AKC in regards to this matter.  Please click here to see the letter.
